CNC Machine Operator

POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking CNC Machine Operators for machining, assembly, and heat treatment of powertrain, suspension, and brake parts for automotive applications. CNC Machine Operators will be responsible for setting up and operating machine equipment to produce finished products while meeting customer specifications, internal quality standards, and following all safety procedures.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate multi-axis CNC equipment such as Horizontal & Vertical Machining Centers, Gear Hobbing Machines, and CNC Lathes with live tooling.
  • Machine products per drawing specifications and QA Best Practices.
  • Setup and run cell equipment with the correct CNC programs, tooling, and fixtures for each job.
  • Read sketches and blueprints and translate into machine setup.
  • Check first piece machined and adjust to meet product specifications.
  • Perform periodic visual and dimensional inspections to ensure product quality.
  • Report production rates, machine utilization, quality issues, yield, and efficiency.
  • Load/Unload parts utilizing overhead crane or lift truck.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and support maintenance on major repairs.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the machining cell.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CNC understanding including tool tables, setup screens, program reading, and basic program modifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Basic knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Understanding of machine tooling and proper tool selection.
  • Good understanding of metrology, including the use of calipers and micrometers.
  • Experience with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) including daily checks and cleaning.
  • Self-directed and capable of running multiple machines simultaneously.
