POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Position may require over time on weekends and weekdays. All overtime is based GM schedule is mandating.
  • Set up and operate assembly equipment as assigned.
  • Follow work instructions as outlined in Standard Operation Sheet (SOS), Job Element Sheet (JES), and/or packing instructions for all assigned operations.
  • Load/unload parts in/out of welders, dies, trunnions, and/or assembly fixtures.
  • Operate equipment that welds, stamps, presses, crimps, stakes, and/or rivets together parts and/or sub-assemblies.
  • Perform manual assembly, welding, and tapping operations as required.
  • Ensure quality and quantities of parts produced to meet required quality specifications and production rates.

Follow all company policies and procedures.

  • Perform light, routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Fill out all necessary paperwork associated with the job including but not limited to, some or all the following: start-up checklist, pre-shift inspection sheet, labor tickets, scrap records, downtime tracking sheets, quality assurance checks, and product identification tags.
  • Work overtime before and/or after normal shifts and/or on weekends as assigned.
  • Be present at work, ready to work at the assigned time for every scheduled or voluntarily accepted workday.
  • Contribute to a safe, clean, and comfortable work environment by applying the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support).

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Press Operators: 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday-Thursday (Fridays occasional)
  • Injection Molders: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday (Saturdays occasional)

Press operators work with fiberglass mats and resin to make fiberglass reinforced composite parts for the special and heavy trucking industry..

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Pour resin onto fiberglass sheets in mold according to production specification sheet.
  • Use counter to track number of parts produced.
  • Clean debris from mold by spraying with air hose prior to beginning process then apply mold
  • wax.
  • Pour specified amount of resin mixture into buckets using dipsticks.
  • Add catalyst to mixture and mix with air mixer.
  • Operate press
  • Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries following safety procedures.
  • Place fiberglass sheets on the mold.
  • Place part on check fixture at take appropriate measurements. Records measurements on
  • appropriate logs and charts.
  • Verify accuracy of water jets by calling robotics to run a first part run on cutter and having
  • robotics approve the first cut.
  • Clean debris from buckets before using.
  • Inspect part for quality issues and repairs/reworks.
  • Adjust mold/press compression timing and mold temperature as needed or instructed.
  • Replace empty resin barrel and retrieving a full barrel.
  • Clean molds as needed for making class “A” parts.
  • Conduct first part runs according to part specifications and log SPC charts to verify control
  • limits, then receive supervisor approval.
  • Stamp part with date and lot number.
  • Clean resin run out and gel coat from mold and bed of machine.
  • Mark measurements onto ratio log and calculate ratio three times per shift making
  • adjustments as needed to keep parts within control limits.
  • Perform minor repairs on parts.
  • Report production numbers to shift supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot work-related problems by working together in a team to come up with solutions.
  • Look at production board to determine which press is running what job #, lot #, and the
  • amount of resin to pour.
  • Spray adhesive glue and place tag as required.
  • Complete Mix Ratio Log three times per shift.
  • Employee may be required to perform testing to specified lab work instructions.
