JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at our unionized facility in Romulus, MI. This role is crucial in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment and machinery. If you have experience in machine repair, millwright work, or electrical maintenance, this is a great opportunity to work in a stable environment with excellent benefits and minimal overtime.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and repairs on plant equipment and machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot to minimize downtime.
  • Utilize welding, metalworking tools, and other mechanical equipment for maintenance, repair, and fabrication.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including proper PPE usage and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in the plant’s emergency response team, completing all required training (HAZWOPER, confined space procedures, hot work, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Operate forklifts and other machinery as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Plant Engineer.

QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Journeyman’s status in maintenance (machine repair, millwright, electrical) or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience with metalworking tools (lathes, drill presses, grinders, saws, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of computerized maintenance tracking systems.
  • Experience working with hazardous materials and emergency response training.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a lift truck license test.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs regularly.
